Kimdaba is in the Debian archive. Currently, the official package does not include KIPI plugin support. The kipi plugins and the required libraries are yet to be accepted in Debian. Until then, the official KPhotoAlbum package cannot depend on software that is not on the Debian archive. Good news is that these additional packages will soon be included in Debian too.
For the time being, you may try the unofficial package, which has KIPI plugin support. It is stored at Achim Bohnet's
unofficial repository. Just add:
deb http://www.mpe.mpg.de/~ach/debian/experimental ./
deb-src http://www.mpe.mpg.de/~ach/debian/experimental ./
to your /etc/apt/sources.list and install the kimdaba and kipi-plugins packages.
For details see the KimDaBa debian package home page
KimDaBa 2.0 packages are available from the KDE for Red Hat Linux project.
KimDaBa 2.0 packages are available in Cooker. I found it in the i586/media/main/ subdirectories.
